Your Highlight is Poppin’

I’m SO on board with dewy, glowy, well-moisturized skin. This look has been everywhere lately, from celeb makeup lines (hello Fenty Killawatt Highlighter !) to the catwalk to our fave makeup and lifestyle bloggers. Dewy highlight is a natural yet head-turning look that has me reaching for my highlight!

Highlighters

Traditional face highlighters come in (pressed or loose) powder or cream formulas. As the weather heats up, I find myself more drawn to cream formulas like RMS’s Master Mixer – it has just the right amount of dew, and the peachy bronze tone is perfect for a natural “no-makeup, makeup” look. Cream highlights (and blushes) blend seamlessly into skin for a gorgeous, buildable glow. Another cream highlighter I love is Josie Maran’s Argan Enlightenment Illuminizing Wand. This product comes in a stick, which makes it super easy to apply. I love to add this highlight to the inner corners of the eye, the tops of my cheekbones, the cupid’s bow of my upper lip, and along my brow bones.

Glosses

Want the ultimate dewy look? Gloss isn’t just for lips anymore! Glossy lids and faces have taken the fashion world by storm, and the must-haves are Eye Vinyl by Milk Makeup for glossy eye drama, and the Face Gloss by Milk Makeup (safe for eyes, lips and cheeks). For gloss on a budget, try tapping Aquaphor on your lips, cheekbones and brow bones. Hey, if it’s good enough for real life angel Zendaya, it’s good enough for us!

Highlight

Highlight isn’t just for your cheekbones – the tops of your shoulders, your collarbones, decollete, and even your arms and legs can benefit from a little shine. While Rih’s Body Lava body luminizer from her Fenty Beauty Beach Please collection is already sold out (boo hoo!) we’re staying glossy with the gorgeous Ipanema Sunset Glow Oil from Sol De Janeiro, featured in the Something is Blooming Spring Bonus Box (still available while supplies last!) To go DIY, simply mix a loose powder highlight with organic coconut oil and shake to mix. If you’re going to be in the sunshine, consider adding powder highlight to an oil sunscreen instead! We like this one from Supergoop!

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize!

The best place to start that glossy, dewy look is with proper skin care. Moisturizer is your best friend! Some women are afraid of using too much moisturizer because they’re afraid of breaking out, but in reality skin needs moisture – especially acne prone skin! If your skin doesn’t get enough moisture, it will overcompensate and create more oil than necessary, which is where breakouts start. It all starts with skincare. After that, you’re ready to glow baby!
