How To: Find Your Perfect Red Lip

From Marilyn Monroe to Cleopatra, nothing says classic beauty like a stunning red lip. But with millions of shades out there, how do you find your perfect red lip? Bless Blog will show you how!

How To Red Lip

First step for choosing a Red Lip: Know your undertones!

Everyone has either cool (pink), neutral, or warm (yellow) undertones. There are a couple methods to finding out which undertone you have!  Just like skin, lipstick also has undertones. Warm lipsticks are usually an orangey-red, while cool red lipsticks are more of a blue-red.

For a lip that really pops, choose a red lipstick with undertones that are opposite of your skin’s undertones. For a red lip that blends seamlessly with your complexion, stick to a red lipstick with the same undertones as your skin.

The Jewelry Test

If you favor the way silver or white gold jewelry looks against your skin, you’re more likely a cool undertone. If you look better in yellow gold, you’re probably a warm tone. If both metal tones suit you equally, you could be neutral!

Clothes Test

Which colors suit you best? If you look stunning in blues, greens, and bluey-reds then you’re more likely a cool undertone. If you shine in yellows, corals, and orangey-reds you probably have a warm undertone.

Vein Test

Take a look at your wrist. If your veins look more blue or purple, you likely have a cool undertone. If your veins appear more green, you would be a warm undertone. If you can’t tell, you’re in the neutral group.

Tan Test

If you tan like a bronze goddess under the sun, you’re likely a warm undertone. If you just don’t tan (and are prone to sunburns!) you probably have a cool undertone.
