Summer is heating up in a major way – in L.A. we’re in the middle of a record heatwave, and our sisters on the East Coast are suffering through a super hot and humid summer too! Just because you feel like melting doesn’t mean your makeup has to! Here is Bless Box’s tips for beating the heat and keeping your makeup fresh despite 100+ degree weather!
Say GoodBye To “Matte”
In hot, humid heatwave weather, forget about keeping things matte and perfect. Your new go-to summer makeup finish is dewy, natural and glowy! Skip the heavy foundation and setting powder, and stick to a light CC cream or spot-correct with your favorite concealer. (My fave sheer CC cream of the moment is the 1000 Roses CC Color + Correct Sheer Tan SPF 30 from Andalou Naturals). For a setting spray that doesn’t budge but keeps a dewy finish, I like the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray.
Say Hello To Cream Blush and Bronzer
Sticking with the dewy theme, look for blush and bronzer that melt into the skin. Trestique andNars make good ones, and I have a soft spot for Glossier Cloud Paints. Focus your bronzer where the sun naturally hits first – the bridge of your nose, your cheeks and cheekbones, and just a touch on the forehead and chin to tie it all together. Blend in cream formulas with your fingertips. Easy peasy!
Don’t Forget Liquid or Cream Highlight
Glossier Haloscope cream highlight is one of my favorite cream stick highlights, for its blendability and gorgeous natural shimmer. My favorite liquid highlight is the Liquid Glow Dew Drops from Ruby May Cosmetics – I always get compliments on my highlight when I wear them! Focus highlight on your cheekbones, your cupid’s bow, down the center of your nose (and on the tip!) and bring some down to your collarbones and the tops of your shoulders for an all-over otherworldly glow.
Stay Bright Eyed
Gloss Your Lips
The perfect way to finish off your dewy summer look? A swipe of lipgloss! Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer by Fenty Beauty is perhaps the most perfect, universally-flattering lip gloss ever made. If gloss isn’t you thing, try a dab of Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask in Smashed or Maple.
For A Quick Refresh
For the summer months, I keep a bottle of Avene Thermal Spring Water in the fridge. I’ll spritz this on my beauty blender before applying makeup, and use it throughout the day to refresh my skin and keep my makeup from creasing. This stuff is a lifesaver! I always keep a mini in my carry-on for long flights!
